Co.Labs Brno (CZ)

MFK Bochum invites you on a journey through six years of durational and site-specific research on motorways. The narrative begins in one of the most densely populated areas of Europe, in the far west of Germany, and leads to the north of Slovakia, to the vast landscape of Mala Fatra, where the completion of the national motorway was delayed for three decades. An exercise in feminist voyeurism and artistic hacking strategies to examine the emergence of motorway landscapes, step by step. From walking, waiting, collecting rubbish beside the road and drinking coffee on an epic construction site, rarely travelling by car. Their work on the road takes place in bushes and on rubbish dumps, open to encounters with frogs, watercourses, workers, dog owners, mayors, musicians, activists and the ambivalent beauty of monumental concrete structures at sunset.

During their residency at Co.Labs, they are viewing, sorting and collaging the sound and video material from their many years of work in preparation for a stage production (coming soon).
